How Gen Z sees the world: International student from Mexico on digitalization and life in China

Global Stringer

Today, global human rights governance faces multiple challenges, including development imbalances, geopolitical conflicts and the digital divide. Significant gaps remain between different countries and regions in terms of security, access to development opportunities, public services and basic rights.

In this context, implementing the Global Security Initiative and creating a peaceful environment for the realization of human rights has become particularly important. Moraima Ordoñez, an international student from Mexico studying at Peking University, shares her personal observations on this issue.

Ordoñez has noticed the continuous expansion of Beijing's subway and the ongoing renovation of community public spaces – changes that have made her feel the government's commitment to people's well-being. What impresses her even more is China's digitalization: from mobile payments and online medical appointments to visa applications, things that can be done in just a few minutes in China. She believes that digitalization enables people from all backgrounds to equally enjoy fundamental rights such as health, education, work and freedom of movement. For Ordoñez, this is why her time in China has been so unforgettable.
