Red Army in Ya'an: Confronting the Natural Perils

Around May 1935, the Red Army reached Ya'an, now part of Sichuan province. In this rugged land of deep rivers and high mountain peaks, they crossed the Dadu River, overcame the dangers of Luding Bridge, and scaled the snow-capped Jiajin Mountain to continue their heroic journey northward. The rushing waters, iron chains, and icy slopes bore witness to the Red Army's endurance and resolve during the hardest of times. Today, some of these historic sites remain preserved, telling an unforgettable chapter of Chinese history.
