Iran announced on Monday that it had halted military operations against Israel, while Israeli media reported that Israel would suspend airstrikes on Iran.
Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced the cessation of the Iranian armed forces' operations against Israel, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
In a statement, the headquarters said the operations were carried out in support of the Lebanese people following Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon and the Dahieh district south of the Lebanese capital Beirut.
It warned that any further Israeli "aggression and malicious acts," including in southern Lebanon, would trigger a much more "severe and crushing" response.
The statement came after Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said its aerospace force had launched ballistic missiles at Israel's Ramat David Air Base on Sunday and targeted the Nevatim and Tel Nof air bases on Monday.
Meanwhile, Israel's Channel 12 TV reported that an Israeli official said Israel would halt its airstrikes on Iran at the request of US President Donald Trump.
The official said, however, that Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon would continue in the coming days "at full force." He added that Israel would also strike Dahieh, Beirut's southern suburb, if attacks on Israeli communities and civilians continue.
The developments came amid the second day of the most serious escalation between Iran and Israel since a truce took effect in April. The latest tensions were triggered by an Israeli airstrike in Beirut on Sunday, which Israel said targeted a Hezbollah command center.
