On May 26, China and Pakistan issued a joint statement, explicitly noting that both sides congratulated each other on the successful completion of a training program in China for 1,000 young Pakistani agricultural technicians.
As one of the primary host institutions for this initiative, Northwest A&F University (NWAFU) has so far fulfilled the significant task of training 355 young agricultural professionals from Pakistan, taking concrete action to honor its commitment to agricultural cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Hafiz Muhammad Bilal Akhtar, a Pakistani student, is one of the participants in this capacity-building initiative. He views this training as a turning point in his life.
According to the student, more than 60% of rural households in Pakistan are engaged in the livestock industry, yet the sector faces challenges such as frequent livestock diseases, low productivity, and low-income levels for industry practitioners. He hopes to bring the agricultural knowledge he has acquired in China back to his home country, helping to increase livestock output and raise rural household income.
