China has begun building the world's largest 271,000-cubic-meter LNG carrier – a 57% jump from the 174,000-cubic-meter standard – using its latest membrane containment system.
The vessel is being built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and is due for delivery in 2028. China now holds over 30% of the global LNG carrier market.
