US journalist moved by Chinese noodle shop's kindness

While walking down a street in China, an American journalist noticed a sign outside a small eatery that read, "If you're struggling financially, come in and tell the staff you'd like fried rice or noodles. This way you can eat for free and leave without paying."

The journalist remarked that in the United States, a similar setup would likely involve police presence and a condition that recipients "help someone else afterward."
