Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Tuesday approved a draft proposal on revising the country's three key security documents later this year.
According to Kyodo News, the proposal called for securing necessary funding to transform Japan's defense capabilities within five years. The LDP plans to submit the proposal to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi later this month.
Asked to comment on the LDP move, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Wednesday that the draft makes groundless accusations and smears China’s normal military activities. He added that its purpose is nothing more than to deceive the Japanese public and the international community, and to manufacture excuses for accelerating Japan’s remilitarization.
