On the 40th anniversary of the UN Declaration on the Right to Development, Angola says the present historical moment demands inclusivity, equity and solidarity. A shifting international landscape poses challenges that can only be overcome through multilateral responses.

Reflecting on the right to development, Angola's Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Esmeralda Mendonca argues that the declaration reshaped human rights, placing shared responsibility at the core of international relations. Angola called on the international community to hold fast to that imperative and remove structural barriers that hinder the right of millions worldwide to development.
