The 2026 Forum on Global Human Rights Governance opened in Beijing on Thursday. 

Joao Bernardo Vieira, minister of justice and human rights of Guinea-Bissau, stated that for developing countries, such as Guinea Bissau, the right to development remains central to the realization of all other human rights. The Republic of Guinea Bissau believes that the right to development must remain at the heart of global human rights discussions, he said.
