What a Canadian Black Muslim discovered after moving to China

What is life in China really like for a Black Muslim from Canada?

In a recent interview with CGTN's Li Jingjing, Canadian political commentator Qwabena Anthony Ali shared his experience of living and working in China after relocating last year.

Ali pushed back on Western narratives about China's treatment of Muslims, noting that some of the loudest critics of China on this issue have shown little concern for Muslim communities elsewhere. His own experience as a practicing Muslim in China, he said, is quite different from Western portrayals.

He also drew comparisons between China and Canada in areas such as infrastructure and urban development, citing Beijing's public transport system as one example of China's long-term planning efforts.
