Mohammed B.S. Jallow, vice president of the Republic of The Gambia, said on Thursday that green development is a human rights imperative, warning that environmental degradation directly undermines the rights to health, food, housing and security. Speaking at the 2026 Forum on Global Human Rights Governance in Beijing on the 48th anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development, Jallow called for a people-centered, sustainable path forward.
