In northwest China's Shaanxi, infrared cameras captured wild leopards 19 times over nearly five months this spring. The big cats were seen marking territory, patrolling the forest and crouching low as they hunted. A state protected species in China, the leopard is highly sensitive to habitat quality. Its frequent appearance suggests a healthy and stable population, an intact ecosystem and years of effective conservation work in the reserve.
