Thousands of protesters marched through Tirana on Thursday, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and opposing a luxury resort development planned by Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump.
Demonstrators held banners reading "Albania is not for sale" and chanted "Edi Rama resign" as they gathered outside the prime minister's office.
The project, expected to cost around $5.8 billion, has provoked outrage in the Balkan country because of its location near a protected wetland home to flamingos, seals and sea turtle nesting sites, as well as concerns over a perceived lack of transparency surrounding plans designed by foreign investors.
