The 2026 Forum on Global Human Rights Governance was held in Beijing, where CGTN's Li Jingjing interviewed guests from multiple countries on site. Voices from the Global South gathered to tell the most authentic stories of human rights.

For many in the Global South, human rights are increasingly understood through a different lens: the right to development, the pursuit of dignity, the ability to make independent choices and the opportunity to improve people's lives through concrete action.

As more voices join this conversation, a broader question emerges: who gets to define human rights and what should those rights ultimately deliver for ordinary people?
