Dragon boat races and training are in full swing across China ahead of the Duanwu Festival, or Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 19 this year. In Fuzhou, east China's Fujian Province, more than 300 athletes from 12 teams from both sides of the Taiwan Strait competed in a 500-meter race in Luoyuan Bay on June 12. In Tongren, southwest China's Guizhou Province, 61 teams have started training for a traditional dragon boat competition scheduled for June 18 to 19, with a dragon boat tug-of-war match adding to the festive atmosphere.
