As dragon boat races kicked off in multiple regions across China in recent days, crowds of visitors were attracted to experience the charm of the traditional sport. Alongside the captivating races, Dragon Boat Festival carnivals and themed markets were also held in places like Zhuhai and Zhangzhou, combining traditional culture with new consumption-driven initiatives to stimulate local economies.

Also known as the Duanwu Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday commemorating the ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan from the Warring States Period. Celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the traditional Chinese calendar, the festival falls on June 19 this year.
