China completes phase two concrete pouring for the dam slab of major hydropower station

The second-phase concrete pouring for the dam slab of the Lawa Hydropower Station in southwest China's Sichuan Province has been completed, marking that the station's main structure has entered its final sprint toward completion. The Lawa Hydropower Station is an integral part of the hydro-wind-solar hybrid power system in the upper reaches of the Jinsha River, which is home to several of the world's largest hydropower stations. The Lawa Hydropower Station has a total installed capacity of 2 million kilowatts and features a maximum dam height of 242.5 meters. Once fully operational, the hydropower station is expected to generate an average of approximately 9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, meeting the annual power demand of more than 4.7 million households.
