After becoming the first foreigner to receive citizenship from the People's Republic of China, Ma Haide (George Hatem) chose to dedicate himself to the fight against leprosy in the country. For decades, he worked in some of China's most remote regions, caring for patients and contributing to China's efforts to control and eliminate the disease.
