During the Belt and Road Film Week at the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, Ilda Santiago, the executive director of programming and international projects at the Festival do Rio, said in an interview that, despite the vast physical distance between Brazil and China, cinema allows people to connect and embrace each other's cultural essence. She said her aim is to strengthen film and television cooperation between the two countries, build a cross-continental cultural bridge via cinema, and foster mutual understanding between the diverse civilizations of Latin America and China.
