This year's festival slate features a wide range of genres, including romance, science fiction, animation, suspense and drama, offering audiences plenty of choices during the holiday period. Among the most anticipated releases are the youth romance Invictus, Operation Black-ops – China's first action film centered on a women's counterterrorism special forces unit – the sci-fi romance The Boy Who Counted Cars, the period spy thriller I Know Who You Are, and Pixar's latest sequel Toy Story 5.

One of the standout productions from China, The Boy Who Counted Cars, explores the blurred boundaries between virtual and real worlds. Rather than relying on grand futuristic settings, the film weaves science-fiction elements into everyday urban life, examining themes of authenticity, emotion and self-discovery through the experiences of young people.

Invictus tells the story of two ordinary young lovers in a small city. The two support each other while navigating life's challenges and uncertainties. Meanwhile, Operation Black-ops follows an elite women's counterterrorism team during a high-stakes 12-hour rescue mission, highlighting their courage, resilience and unwavering commitment.

China's film market has maintained strong momentum this year. The summer movie season, which officially began on June 1, is also gathering pace. More than 80 Chinese and international films have already been scheduled for release, setting the stage for a vibrant and highly competitive summer at the box office.
