How does one 'awaken' the dragon?

CGTN

02:10

Ever seen a dragon boat 'grown' in the mud? In some regions of China, dragon boats are literally buried in riverbank mud to protect the wood and keep them in top shape – a centuries-old tradition that sounds almost mythical. CGTN host Jack Klumpp experiences this hidden custom firsthand and even got to take part in the eye-dotting ceremony – when the dragon is "awakened" before hitting the water. It's a tradition that transcends language, sharing the spirit of the Dragon Boat Festival with the whole world.
