The Choice: A New Zealander who gave China 60 years of his life

Born in New Zealand, Rewi Alley arrived in China in the 1920s and witnessed firsthand the poverty, war and suffering endured by the Chinese people. Deeply moved by what he saw, he chose to stand with the Chinese people and dedicated his life to China's revolution, industrial cooperatives and education. From supporting the Chinese Industrial Cooperatives movement during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression to founding the Bailie Schools and nurturing generations of young talent, Alley devoted more than six decades to China's development and friendship between China and New Zealand.

The Choice tells the stories of international friends who stood alongside the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people.
