A ride-hailing driver in Chengdu City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, drove to the gate of a military barracks in the early hours of May 28 after suddenly feeling severe chest pain and losing consciousness. Sentries from an air force unit under the Western Theater Command quickly noticed something was wrong, called emergency services and helped keep him stable before an ambulance arrived. The driver was later diagnosed with an acute cerebral infarction. After recovering, he returned to thank the soldiers, saying he came to the gate because he knew they would save him.
