At an altitude of 3,645.9 meters, this dragon boat race held on Friday in Lhasa, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, is officially the highest of its kind in both China and the world. The achievement was certified by the World Record Certification Agency (WRCA) in its 2025 edition as the "Highest Altitude Dragon Boat Race."

Ten dragon boat teams and 20 traditional Tibetan bullhide boats competed on the water this year, with Yunnan Minzu University claiming the title in the traditional dragon boat race.

The event also kicked off Xizang's 2026 Sports Events Season, which features 23 major competitions including football, horse racing and cycling. The initiative aims to drive integrated development by leveraging sports events to boost tourism, culture and other industries.
