The two-day 2026 China Traditional Dragon Boat Race wrapped up in Tongren City, southwest China's Guizhou Province on June 19, the day of China's traditional Dragon Boat Festival holiday this year. Bringing together elite dragon boat teams from across the country, the grand event drew tens of thousands of local residents and tourists. The opening ceremony featured a series of distinctive cultural performances. Traditional rituals – including the dragon boat eye-dotting ceremony, a thousand-person Tujia hand-waving dance and a group chorus – fully showcased the unique folk culture of the local Tujia ethnic group.
During the event, teams raced on the Jinjiang River with synchronized oar strokes. Cheers and applause from spectators along the riverbanks created a lively and festive atmosphere. After the intense competitions, the traditional duck-catching activity further enlivened the scene, embodying the rich and authentic ambiance of Dragon Boat Festival.
