The ongoing 28th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) has received a record 4,100 submissions from 125 countries and regions, the highest number in the history of China's only internationally accredited competitive feature film festival.

CGTN Stringer recently hit the streets of Seoul, South Korea, to ask local residents about the shared emotional connections sparked by Chinese and South Korean films. They shared their thoughts on Chinese movies like "Us and Them" and "A Better Tomorrow," saying these stories resonate strongly with South Korean audiences.

Speaking about the South Korean film "The King's Warden," which is being shown at this year's SIFF, Seoul resident Choi Soo-ryeon praised it for portraying serious historical events through a lighthearted story, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Many residents said film festivals help break down language and geographic barriers. They noted that such events help people from different countries understand each other's lives, history and emotions, promoting global cultural understanding.
