Mandarin, or Putonghua, is the official language of China. The country, however, is vast and diverse, with many regions speaking their own local dialects. Recently, a Teochew-language song, “Brew Tea Under the Moon,” the theme song of the Chinese indie film Dear You, has been gaining significant attention online.
