In a wetland in north China's Inner Mongolia, a family of common cranes has been spotted feeding in shallow grassland, with the newly hatched chicks following close behind. Common cranes are highly alert during breeding season and require quiet surroundings, rich food resources and a largely undisturbed natural habitat. After the chicks hatch, crane families tend to live apart from others to reduce disturbance.
