China has launched its 2026 Yellow River water-sediment regulation operation, with the Xiaolangdi Water Project increasing water discharge to flush an estimated 100 million tons of sediment downstream.
The 21-day operation, involving multiple reservoirs, aims to improve the Yellow River's flood discharge capacity and reduce the risk of sediment accumulation in the river's lower reaches.
