China's LineShine becomes world's fastest supercomputer!

China's supercomputer LineShine, also known as "Lingsheng," has ranked No. 1 on the latest list of the world's fastest supercomputers released by ISC High Performance on Tuesday.

The ranking marks China's return to the top spot for the first time in nine years, with LineShine surpassing the US supercomputer El Capitan.

Developed by China's National Supercomputing Center in Shenzhen, LineShine is built entirely with domestically developed core technologies, combining hardware and software in a fully integrated system.

With a sustained performance of 2.198 exaflops, LineShine is the first supercomputer to surpass the two-exaflop mark and is currently the world's most powerful publicly verified supercomputer.

It is being used in a wide range of research areas, including climate studies, engineering simulations, materials science, drug discovery, and scientific AI.
