China's first heavy-duty intelligent shield machine cutter replacement robot made its debut in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province, on June 25. The robot replaces risky manual work in narrow and harsh underground tunnel environments. With precise visual positioning and automatic operation, it replaces cutters on Tunnel Boring Machines. The infrastructure engineering tech, 100% domestically developed, will advance safer, unmanned tunnel construction.
