In recent years, Hami has stepped up efforts to integrate culture, tourism and the creative industries. The city has been named the official cultural tourism partner of the 2026 Shanghai International Film & TV Festival for the second consecutive year, reflecting growing cooperation between local cultural institutions and major film and television platforms.

The partnership will combine cultural storytelling with tourism promotion through projects including short films on Hami's intangible cultural heritage and film-inspired travel experiences. By connecting stories on screen with real-world destinations, the initiative aims to bring the city's traditions, cuisine and landscapes to wider audiences.
