In April 2018, President Xi Jinping visited Xujiachong, a resettlement village in Yichang, Hubei Province. He was keen to discover what life was like for its residents, who had moved there 25 years earlier to make way for the Three Gorges Dam project.  

The president was happy to find that their life was good. And since his visit, it has got even better, with tourism flourishing and local tea and embroidery production also generating significant revenues.
