Six fishermen were rescued and two others went missing on Thursday after a fishing boat collided with a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker off southeastern Republic of Korea, according to Yonhap news agency.

The 79-ton trawler capsized off the southeastern port city of Busan after its collision with the 992-ton LPG carrier at about 10:10 a.m. local time (0110 GMT).

Of the eight crew members on board the capsized fishing vessel, six were rescued and two others remained unaccounted for.

The country's coast guard is conducting a search and rescue operation for the missing fishermen.

President Lee Jae Myung ordered authorities to mobilize all available resources for rescue operations and make every effort to save lives.
