A newly released survey has identified China's first known coral reef blue hole at Huangyan Dao in the South China Sea. The rare underwater formation is estimated to be at least 3,200 years old and features a distinctive funnel-shaped structure. Researchers say the blue hole and its surrounding waters host rich marine biodiversity, making it an important site for studying coral reef ecosystems and advancing marine conservation.
