June 25 marked the fifth anniversary of the Lhasa–Nyingchi railway – a milestone that comes just days before the 20th anniversary of the full opening of the Qinghai-Xizang Railway on July 1.

Stretching 435.48 kilometers, the Lhasa–Nyingchi line is Xizang's first electrified railway. It officially entered service on June 25, 2021 – a day that also saw the historic debut of the Fuxing bullet train on the plateau.

The railway links Lhasa, Shannan and Nyingchi – the three core cities of Xizang's "three-hour economic circle" – with the fastest journey from Lhasa to Nyingchi taking just 3 hours and 49 minutes. Over the past five years, the line has transported more than 2 million tons of freight and recorded over 6.25 million passenger trips.
