A magnitude-5.8 earthquake struck northeastern Chiba Prefecture, Japan, at around 12:46 p.m. local time on Friday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
The quake registered a maximum seismic intensity of 4 on Japan's seismic scale, the JMA said, and no tsunami warning was issued.
The quake was strongly felt in Tokyo.
