As of June 27, Venezuelan authorities have confirmed that at least 1,430 people have died and 3,238 others have been injured following the twin earthquakes that devastated the country's north on June 24.

A CGTN stringer in the capital, Caracas, spoke with survivors, capturing their stories of loss, uncertainty and resilience. One survivor lost his home and all his belongings, and witnessed a neighboring building collapse with his friends trapped beneath the rubble. As rescue teams across the country are pushed to their limits, ordinary citizens have also stepped up to join the relief efforts. For the survivors, life will never be the same again – but their immediate priority remains clear: to do everything they can to save as many lives as possible.
