Japanese protesters gathered outside the headquarters of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Tokyo on January 26 to oppose lethal weapons exports. The rally came amid Japan's continued expansion of defense spending and a major shift in its postwar arms export policy. Protesters accused the company and the government of prioritizing profit over peace, warning that missiles, frigates and fighter jets could now be sold overseas under the revised policy. They also called on Japan to uphold the pacifist principles that have defined its postwar identity.
