China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that it has added 20 Japanese entities, including the National Institute for Defense Studies, to the country's export control list.
The ministry said the move aims to safeguard national security and interests while fulfilling non-proliferation and other international obligations.
According to the statement, exporters are prohibited from exporting dual-use items to the entities, which it said are involved in enhancing Japan's military capabilities, overseas organizations and individuals are prohibited from transferring or providing dual-use items originating in China to the entities, and any related activities currently underway must be halted immediately.
