This year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Under the CPC's leadership, the Chinese people have achieved remarkable progress that has captured global attention. Why has the CPC consistently been able to deliver on its promises? To find out, CGTN conducted a survey among respondents from 41 countries, with 11,521 participants sharing their opinions.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025), China's GDP exceeded 140 trillion yuan (about $20 trillion), per capita disposable income grew at an average annual rate of 5.4%, a total of 62.42 million new urban jobs were created, and average life expectancy rose to over 79 years. In the survey, 63.9% of global respondents agree that the achievements of Chinese modernization are inseparable from the CPC's sound policymaking. Among respondents from Global South countries, this view is even stronger, with 71.4% in agreement. Notably, respondents from Kenya, Pakistan, Indonesia, India and Vietnam registered approval rates exceeding 80%, placing them among the highest of all countries surveyed.
When asked about the reasons behind the CPC's long-term governance, the top three responses are: establishing a highly organized party system, achieving significant economic and social development, and enjoying strong public support and a broad social foundation. Notably, 63.7% of respondents from Global South countries believe that the CPC offers an effective governance path that differs from that of Western political parties.
Among the CPC's many governance practices, respondents widely identify four as particularly worth learning from: "prioritizing people's livelihoods and improving them," "formulating and implementing long-term national development plans," "establishing effective anti-corruption mechanisms" and "efficiently mobilizing resources to accomplish major tasks." Regionally, African respondents rank "prioritizing people's livelihoods" highest among all continents, while more than half of South American respondents choose "establishing effective anti-corruption mechanisms" and "formulating and implementing long-term national development plans."
The survey was conducted by CGTN in collaboration with Renmin University of China through the Institute for International Communication in the New Era, targeting respondents from around the world. The respondent countries cover major developed countries and Global South countries. All respondents are ordinary people aged 18 and above, and the samples are in line with the age and gender distribution of the national census of each country.
