The most severe heatwave ever recorded in Europe roasted central and eastern parts of the continent on Monday.
Almost all of Romania was under a red warning for heat, the Romanian meteorology authority said on Monday with temperatures surpassing 40 degrees Celsius.
Hungary remained under a third-degree heat alert, the country's highest level, with temperatures forecast to reach between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius across much of the country in the coming days.
