Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud is on an official visit to China from June 30 to July 1 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.
On Tuesday, Wang held talks with Prince Faisal, who had earlier met with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.
As China and Saudi Arabia mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership, Wang and Prince Faisal pledged to deepen cooperation across a range of areas.
During the talks, Wang also addressed the current instability in the Gulf region. He said China welcomes negotiations between the United States and Iran and stressed that, although the current ceasefire remains fragile, talking is always better than fighting. China, he added, is willing to work with Saudi Arabia to help ease tensions and promote long-term peace and stability in the region.
