Satellite footage captured wildfires and smoky skies across parts of the central and western United States as fire activity intensified. The National Interagency Fire Center said 83 new fires were reported nationwide on June 30, including eight new large fires, with crews battling 54 uncontained large fires across the country. The agency raised the National Preparedness Level to 4, while three firefighters were killed and two others injured during wildfire response along the Colorado-Utah border.
