Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez said on Tuesday that the death toll from the two powerful earthquakes that recently struck the country has risen to 1,943, with more than 10,000 injured.

A 3-year-old boy was rescued Tuesday after being trapped for six days in rubble following two back-to-back earthquakes in Venezuela.

Acting President Delcy Rodriguez announced on social media that Klieber Moran was pulled to safety after being found alive in a building in the coastal state of La Guaira.

"Klieber's life is a source of hope for our people!" said Rodriguez, adding that the operation to save the young survivor was carried out by a rescue team from Jordan. The boy was then transported for specialized emergency medical care.

Some 75,238 families affected by the strong quakes have received assistance, with the support from more than 3,300 foreign rescue workers and 45 international delegations, along with 140 rescue dogs, 49 support vehicles and more than 700,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid, said Rodriguez.
