Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has stressed upholding full and rigorous self-governance of the CPC. 

Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks at a gathering held on Wednesday to mark the Party's 105th founding anniversary in Beijing.

In his speech, Xi called for fully implementing the ideas and requirements of party-building in the new era, improving the Party's long-term ability to exercise power, maintaining the Party's advanced nature and purity, maintaining the bond between the Party and the people, strengthening the full and rigorous self-governance system of the Party, strengthening party-building in all aspects, resolutely fighting the war against all forms of corruption, continuously enhancing the Party's political leadership, ensuring the Party is always the strong leading core in the course of upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
