How does the CPC remain vibrant after 105 years? Experts decode the Party's enduring vitality

How does the CPC remain vibrant after 105 years? Experts decode the Party's enduring vitality

As the Communist Party of China (CPC) marked its 105th founding anniversary on Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted one of the defining features behind the Party's long-term success: its ability to continuously renew itself while remaining full of vitality.

Addressing a gathering in Beijing, Xi called on the whole Party to draw strength from its history and press ahead on the new journey of Chinese modernization. Reflecting on the Party's century-long development, he summarized a series of defining qualities that have enabled the CPC to grow from a small revolutionary party into the world's largest Marxist governing party, including seeking truth from facts, staying rooted in the people, shouldering historic missions, remaining at the forefront of the times, maintaining the courage and ability to fight and constantly improving itself.

For observers, Xi's remarks offer more than a retrospective of the Party's past. They also provide an answer to a question often asked by the international community: How has the CPC maintained its vitality over more than a century while leading the world's second-largest economy through profound transformation?

According to Zheng Changzhong, a professor at Fudan University's Political Party Building and National Development Research Center, the qualities outlined by Xi represent the fundamental code behind the CPC's success.

"These are not only a profound summary of the Party's 105-year journey, but also the answer to why the CPC has been able to succeed," Zheng told CGTN.

As the world undergoes profound changes unseen in a century, he said these qualities have taken on new meaning in the new era. Rather than remaining static, they continue to evolve as the Party responds to new domestic and global challenges while advancing Chinese modernization.

"It is precisely this capacity for continuous renewal that demonstrates how a political party with a 105-year history can remain dynamic and full of vitality," Zheng said.

Wang Hongyan, chief research fellow at the Institute of Political Science of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, believes the CPC's vitality stems from the combination of several defining characteristics: its scientific approach, people-centered philosophy, progressive outlook, practical orientation and commitment to self-reform.

These qualities, she said, provide a strong guarantee for advancing Chinese modernization and national rejuvenation while enabling the Party to adapt to changing circumstances without losing sight of its long-term goals.

As Xi stressed in his address, the journey ahead will inevitably bring new risks and challenges. For experts, however, the Party's century-long experience suggests that its greatest strength lies not simply in its past achievements, but in its ability to continually reform, improve and renew itself. It is this enduring vitality, they say, that has enabled the CPC to remain at the forefront of China's development after 105 years- and will continue to shape its path in the years to come.
