Southern France inferno: 900 hectares burnt, hundreds of firefighters deployed

Southern France, already parched by heat waves, is battling wildfires fueled by strong winds and severe drought. Hundreds of firefighters and water-dumping aircraft are battling a blaze that has scorched 900 hectares in the Aude department and displaced 200 people. Smaller wildfires also broke out near Marseille, underscoring Europe’s vulnerability to extreme weather.
