Editor's note: CGTN's First Voice provides instant commentary on breaking stories. The column clarifies emerging issues and better defines the news agenda, offering a Chinese perspective on the latest global events.
AI fabrication is not just one bad video. It is part of a wider propaganda campaign against China: One that relies on shocking visuals, repeated messaging, and coordinated sharing across accounts to create the illusion of credibility.
That's how misinformation around China works now. It doesn't need to be accurate. It just needs to be emotionally powerful enough to feign credibility.
The real story is on the ground, in the communities, in the religious life, and in the experiences of the people there. No amount of fabricated content can erase that reality. Propaganda may travel fast, but truth lasts longer.
