Few combat forces in global anti-fascist history endured struggles as severe as China's Northeast United Resistance Army. Isolated from the CPC Central Committee for 14 years and stranded in frozen wilderness without supplies or backup, the troops fought alone against Japanese aggression. Their dauntless perseverance in extreme adversity embodies the core spirit of the century-old CPC.

In Benxi County, Liaoning Province, home to the historical sites of the Northeast Anti-Japanese War, a unique live drama unfolds at the Northeast United Resistance Army historical exhibition hall. Starring ordinary museum staff rather than professional actors, the heartfelt performance recounts the life-and-death bond between anti-Japanese soldiers and local villagers.

"Funding shortages ruled out professional actors. We rehearsed tirelessly to perfect every detail and stage this performance." said Wang Yang, the producer of Northeast United Resistance Army historical exhibition hall.

The Northeast United Resistance Army were the CPC-led armed troop that launched the earliest, toughest, and longest-lasting anti-Japanese struggle in China. Standing next to the exhibition hall's treasure, General Yang Jingyu's rusted saber, we trace the deep, flesh-and-blood bond forged between the soldiers and local people.

Severed from the CPC Central Committee after the Red Army's Long March and trapped by Japan's brutal military blockade, the Northeast United Resistance Army fought in total isolation for 14 years. Even in such despair, General Yang Jingyu gave his personal saber to local villagers as a token of trust, embodying the unbreakable bond between troops and civilians.

Wen Yuguo, the curator of the Northeast United Resistance Army historical exhibition hall told CGTN: "Yang Jingyu's grassroots advocacy let villagers recognize the CPC army fought solely against Japanese invaders to protect locals, building an unshakable military-civilian bond. What sustained the Northeast United Resistance Army through years of isolation? It was their unshakable conviction that the Party always stood with them and would eventually lead the Chinese people to national rejuvenation. This faith sustained their 14-year struggle."

Political parties worldwide uphold distinct ideals and missions. The poignant epic of the Northeast United Resistance Army vividly interprets the CPC's fundamental aspiration: to seek happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation.

Fourteen years of isolated perseverance in icy wilderness defines the CPC's spiritual backbone. Beyond a regional war legend, the anti-Japanese soldiers' loyalty and perseverance mirror why the Party has endured and thrived — staying true to its original mission.

"Cut off from central command deep behind enemy lines, the Northeast United Resistance Army stayed loyal to the Party, embodying its unbreakable devotion to the CPC." said Qu Xiangdong, the deputy secretary of Yang Jingyu Executive Leadership Academy in Tonghua, Jilin Province.
